The Diary of a young girl, also known as the Diary of Anne Frank and journal by Anne Frank is today listed among the most sensational war literatures of the world. The book is a collection of candid journal entries of a young Jewish girl in her early teens who was forced into hiding along with her family and some others during the German occupation of the Netherlands between 1942 and 1944. The book was first published in 1947 by Anne Frank's father, about two years after she had died in a concentration camp. The book offers a first-hand glimpse into the life of the Jews in German occupied regions of Europe, the political and social situation of the time as well as a teenage girl's dreams, worries and fears.
